Trust or Openness?

Trust or Openness?

'Openness is absolutely necessary if one wishes to establish an enriching collaborative process underpinned by inclusion, ambition and innovation.'

Working as a director and writer in theatre I have discovered that the key to a successful collaboration process with artists is not trust, as one might think but, openness that will enable the artists to discover new frontiers in relation to their practise.

CREATIVE COMPASSION

CREATIVE COMPASSION

'A compassionate creative practice is a life style that is lived with intention.'

The development of my new play Sarai, which is scheduled for production in the autumn, explores as its central theme the idea of embracing personal suffering as a means to fulfilling ones passion, goals and dreams. This theme which was initially situated within the context of antiquity led to the following question in relation to the challenges that we face in modernity - ‘how do we individually cultivate optimism and creativity when the narratives we encounter on a daily basis (political, religious & media) are so competitive, negative and divisive?

The Artists' Block....

'So how do we overcome the dreaded writer’s block?'

To far distant places my soul has been flung

Like dismembered body parts still aware of their former wholeness.

My mind is like a wave pulverised by the turbulence of its own current a current that was once serene and athletic at the same time.

Self depreciation is an unrelenting horde whose presence is identified by the vast emptiness it leaves behind and the insanity it conjures.

Nothing is certain in this state except visions of more misery of further desolation.

HAPPINESS

HAPPINESS

WELCOME TO 2015!

Happiness is not what someone makes you nor can it ever be. It’s a decision that you choose to make irrespective of your circumstances. The outward show may be affected by external circumstances but the wisdom to be happy is a decision that you determine inwardly with strong resolve. There are no highs or lows in happiness they, highs and lows, are simply impressions that can influence temporarily one’s mood.
